Тема: Косвенная речь
Цели:

практиковать учащихся в аудировании, чтении, в диалогической речи, в пересказе;
тренировать преобразование прямой речи в косвенную;
развивать навыки культуры общения.

Оборудование: Аудиозапись, карточки, грамматические таблицы, телефон, компьютер, проектор.

Ход урока
1. Приветствие. Сообщение темы урока.
“I’m very glad to see you. I hope you will be working hard during the lesson.
Today we shall have a talk about traveling and our grammar theme is “Reported speech”.
2. Фонетическая зарядка
a) Teacher: People like to travel. They travel (in order) to make their life more interesting. Let’s read some quotations of famous people:
- He that travels far knows much. John Clarke (1609-1676)
- Traveling is one way of lengthening life. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
- If an ass goes traveling, he will not come home a horse. Thomas Fuller (1608-1661)
b) Teacher: From the ancient times people thought about the meaning of life:
- Please, listen to the poem “Leisure” by W.H.Davies (аудиозапись ).
- Who will recite this poem?
- What’s the poem about? (пересказ в косвенной речи)
3. Употребление косвенной речи на этапе тренировки и закрепления.
1) Let’s read the words you’ll have to change in reported speech in the past.
Таблица обстоятельств времени, места:

Now – then yesterday – the day before

Here – there next week – the following week

This/ these – that/ those last week – the previous week

Today – that day last year – the year before

Tomorrow – the following day

2) The following verbs will make your speech more beautiful:

To admit – признавать to promise - обещать

To complain – жаловаться to remind - напомнить

To decide – решить to reply - ответить

To deny – отрицать to warn - предупредить

To explain – объяснять to think – думать, полагать.

3) Работа в парах по карточкам (work in pairs):
a)
“I am hot”. She said she… hot
“We are hungry” They said they … hungry.
“He wants to see you”. She told me he … to see me.
“I don’t like ice- cream”. He said that he … like ice-cream.
“I phoned her”. He said he … phoned her.
b)
He said he (will, would) be there.
He thinks he (can, could) do it.
He asked me where I (live, lived).
I talk her that I (can’t, couldn’t) go.
She said she (did not, does not) feel well.
I don’t know what her name (is, was).
c)
“Are you tired?” He asked me if I … tired.
“Can we help you?” He asked if they … help me.
“Do you like music?” He asked if I … music.
“Will you be lucky in your life?
He wanted to know if I … lucky in my life.
d)
“Where do you live?” I asked her where she …
“What is your hobby?” I asked her what her hobby …
“When will you make a new record? I asked her when she … made a new record.
He asked me “Where is Petrov? He asked me where Petrov …
e)
“Collect the textbooks”. The teacher asked the pupils …
“Put your books away”.
“Turn, over the page”.
“Wait the minute”.
“Don’t play”.
f)
Peter said, “I don’t want to see this film”.
Ada warned, “Nick, don’t go to the pond. It’s dangerous”.
Victor said, “Can you swim, Oleg?”
My sister said, “I have done my exercises”.
Tom asked, “What shall we do tomorrow?”
4) Translate from Russian into English (распечатка упражнения на каждой парте):
Он сказал, что:
1) пишет сочинения два раза в неделю.
2) сейчас пишет сочинение.
3) пишет сочинения с пятого класса.
4) написал два сочинения на этой неделе.
5) никогда не писал таких сложных сочинений.
6) написал сочинение вчера.
7) уже написал сочинение вчера к двум часам.
8) писал вчера сочинение в два часа дня.
9) писал сочинение вчера, когда я к нему пришла.
10) писал сочинение уже два часа, когда я к нему пришла.
11) будет писать сочинение завтра.

5) Change the following statements in reported speech (на экране):
1. Tom says,” The letter was sent yesterday”.
2. The secretary asked,” Did you receive our fax, Mr. Warren?”
3. He says, “Don’t tell a lie, Jack.”
4.”I am busy, “he said.
5.”Are you listening to me, Mary?” Jane said.
6.”Will you be sleeping at 8 a.m.?” she said to Mark.
7. She said,” I don’t know this man.”
8.”What did you say?” he asked.
9.”Are you free tonight?” John told Linda.
10. He said,” When will the contract be signed?”
11. She says,” Where is the tallest skyscraper located, Dad?”
12. The children said,” Have you ever been inside a skyscraper, Dad?”
13. She said,” There are so many interesting people living in New York.”
14. She said to her son,” Don’t forget the keys!”
6) At home you read the text “American Tourist in England.”:
He was an American in London and had hired a guide to show him the city. “How long did it take you to build this house?” he asked his guide when he saw a large hotel building. “About six months,” answered the guide.
“Six months!” exclaimed the American, “it doesn’t take us longer than six weeks to put up a building like that in New York.” They passed an office building which was quite ne...
